NAWIRI FOUNDATION
EVERYONE DESERVES TO FLOURISH
ABOUT US
Nawiri is Swahili for flourish
It was chosen deliberately. Not survival, not getting by, but the full expression of what a person can be: living with dignity, belonging somewhere, having purpose, and giving something back.

Nawiri Foundation was established in Adelaide by community leaders, social care practitioners and advocates who kept seeing the same things. People unable to get help because of language. Families cycling through crisis without support. People with disability who could not find care that understood their culture. Older people isolated with nowhere to turn.

We were built to sit in those gaps, and to work with people rather than above them.

OUR PROGRAMS
What we do, and how you can help
Most people who come to us are dealing with more than one thing at once. Our programs are built to connect, not to sit in silos.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES
Safe, nurturing and stable homes for children in care
A safe, nurturing and stable environment for children and young people under the guardianship or custody of the Department for Child Protection, through residential care and specialised children's services.
NAWIRI FAMILY CONNECT
Strengthening families, protecting children, building futures
Early intervention and practical family support, working alongside parents before things reach crisis point.
Meeting people where they are, walking with them toward home
Street outreach, case management and tenancy support for people sleeping rough or at risk of losing housing.
NAWIRI COMMUNITY BRIDGES
Building bridges between communities and the support they deserve
Navigation and settlement support for migrant and refugee communities, delivered in community languages and community spaces.
NAWIRI ELDERCONNECT
Because belonging has no age limit
Social groups, volunteer befriending and home visits for older people living alone, in their own language where it matters.
SUPPORT OUR WORK
Give, partner, volunteer or refer someone
Every way to back what we are building, from a one-off gift to a corporate partnership to a few hours a fortnight.
WHY WE EXIST
Three things we are here to do
01
Advance social welfare
Direct support for people with disability, families in crisis, people without housing, newly arrived communities and isolated older people. This is our primary purpose.
02
Advance health
Health is more than the absence of illness. We work on what sits underneath it: housing, connection, poverty, and getting care that makes cultural sense.
03
Protect human rights
The right to self-determination, to safety, to be free from discrimination, and to reach services in a language and manner that is safe.
We are just getting started
